Tea shelf life: to ensure you get the best taste and aroma the recommended storage period is 1-2 years after opening. However, due to the fact that tea leaves are dry, they can be stored for many more years. How to preserve the tea: Store in a tightly closed container to protect from any unwanted contaminants. This will ensure the tea remains free from red light and humidity. The temperature should also not be too hot.

"Blue Tea" is what many people know as "Oolong" tea. For Mariage Frères, we call this type of tea “Blue Tea” because of the perception that Oolong tea originates from China. But nowadays it is grown and cultivated in many countries, including Thailand, Taiwan and New Zealand. As the color of the leaves is dark blue-green, and to avoid misunderstandings, Mariage Frères calls this tea "Blue Tea". Although people might see that the blue color comes from other ingredients, such as certain flowers, these ingredients indeed sometimes give the tea a deep blue or bluish-green color. However the color of the tea is actually light brown with golden sparkles.
